The staff at Elite Casting Network isn't the only group of people cracking down scammers targeting the modeling industry. Recently the Norfolk Superior Court convicted two men found guilty of scamming more than a dozen models, ages 2 to 32, out of thousands of dollars. The men will both serve time in jail, and will complete community service upon their release.
The two men were the owners of Marvel Models. The men "scouted" aspiring models at malls and movie theaters and then after meeting with them, encouraged them to pay $595 to have their pictures posted on their website, as well as a monthly maintenance fee. Additionally they also charged models exorbitant fees for photo shoots and to participate in fashion shows.
